Pastor's Update

Posted by Pastor Chuck in Pastor's Blog

Dear Faith Family-

I'd like to remind you of two important matters:

1) Don't forget to move your clocks back one hour this Saturday night
before going to bed. Daylight Saving Time ends at 2:00am Sunday
morning. Enjoy your extra hour's sleep!

2) Don't forget to vote this Tuesday, November 6. As you vote,
remember that the authority of government derives its authority from
God. He has set it in place to maintain peace and to control evil
doers (Romans 13:1-7). In America, we have the opportunity to have a
voice in who leads our government, as well as the manner in which they
lead it. And as Christians, our decisions in voting (as in all other
areas of life) should be based upon biblical principles. Even as I
write this, I feel called to state what I perceive to be obvious- no
political party can lay claim to representing God. "Christian" is
synonymous neither with "Republican" nor "Democrat." However, as each
candidate for each office shares their views, it becomes increasingly
clear both the values they hold and the principles upon which their
choices will be based. As a Christian, I personally feel led to cast
my vote for those whose values best reflect my own as a believer. In
that limited way, I feel that at least I am acting upon the beliefs
which I profess. As a Christian, I am attempting to be a light in the
darkness, salt in the earth.

I have wanted to address the matter of voting earlier, but I have
struggled greatly over fear of appearing to endorse a particular
candidate or party. The fact of the matter is, most candidates have
made it abundantly clear what they stand for as well as what they
stact responsibly as a Christian citizen and vote. Pause for a moment
of prayer as you prepare to cast your vote. Trust that if, as a
nation, we turn our eyes to God in humility and repentance He will
heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:13-14).

If the concept of allowing your biblical beliefs to guide your vote is
something you haven't considered before, you might consider watching
one or both of the following videos to stimulate your thinking in that
area:

Please remember to lift up our nation as this critical time.

Hope to see you Sunday!
